MD の方で紹介することが大半である Hacker News での投稿だが、今回は Philosophical Studies に掲載された David S. Oderberg 氏の "Who’s afraid of reverse mereological essentialism?" (https://doi.org/10.1007/s11098-023-01935-5) という論説がマイナーな話題として紹介されていたため、こちらで取り上げておく。論文によると "Whereas Mereological Essentialism is the thesis that the parts of an object are essential to it, Reverse Mereological Essentialism is the thesis that the whole is essential to its parts." というわけだが、「へぇーそうなのかい。で？」という、いつもの対応しかすることがなくてさみしい。それにもまして、Hacker News で取り上げられた趣旨についても定かでないため、余計に胡散臭い印象がある。またぞろ数学の議論なり概念を（分析）哲学に持ち込む人々に影響されて、更にコンピュータ・サイエンスやソフトウェア・エンジニアリングにも数学の（生半可な）議論を経由して哲学を持ち込むような人たちがいるからだ。
