"He announced that he had studied the US constitution in detail, and—no doubt, forensically examining its propositions one at a time and perhaps testing it against thought experiments against wild possible futures in which the president was allowed to get out of control—he had discovered how the US could legally be turned into a dictatorship." というネタ振りをする人はたくさんいるわけだけど、実際に現行の合衆国憲法で独裁者が生まれると彼が考えた理由について明解な説明をしてる伝記は無かったはずだ。というか、周りでゲーデルの世話をしたモルゲンシュテルンもアインシュタインも同じことを考えていたからか、彼らが自明と見做してゲーデルに突っ込んで尋ねたり詳しい記録を残さなかったことから、こういう逸話だけが何度も語り継がれるという事態に陥ったのだろう。
何をもってゲーデルが独裁体制を推測したのかという推論であれば、例えば矢田部さんのブログ記事のように修正条項を持ち出すことはできるわけだが、もちろん彼も証拠を挙げているわけではない。しかし、矢田部さんが解説するように、この事例は何十年も前からトランプ大統領の登場が予言されていたなんていう与太話などと関連付けるよりも、やはり「論理」とはどういうものなのかとか、論理を「使う」とはどういうことなのかという話に関連づける方がマシであろう。（それでも、いくらゲーデルの逸話だからといって、たかだか論理学者の逸話一つで十分に議論できるとは思えないが。）
