 ----------------------------------------------------

As you all know by now, I fully support the idea of taking
the work that someone else has started and redoing it or adding on to
it. But recently I have noticed a new trend, not crediting the original
creator(s). Now, don't get me wrong, I like the idea that they are
continuing the work on something that has more than likely long since
been dead but, you have to give credit where credit is due. If not
for the original creator then this project wouldn't have been done at
all. So take some time out to give thanks to those who have helped
out along the way. Those who had originally started the project. This
isn't the hardest thing to do.

      TOP NEWS STORIES
 ---------------------------

- Sites, sites, sites (4:02pm 31.03)

I know that these have been reported in the WEB SITES section
but I needed a Top News Story and there is alot of web
	activity this week.

	First we have some moves:
		Modulo - http://modulo.litestep.org
		Rainy's site - http://gamma.nic.fi/~rainy/

Then a back from the dead:
		LS.org - http://www.litestep.org

Finally a new all in one site:
		MyStep - http://www.mystep.org
		         (beta at http://www.litestep.com/mystep)

          MODULES
 ---------------------------

- LSNews 3.0 ~ MrJukes (9:50am 27.03)

This is a total rewrite of the old LSNews module. Apparently
	MrJukes is at it again!

	How to load:
You can load this as a loadmodule or a wharfmodule through
	the normal methods.

	step.rc entries:
	LSMailTheme h:\litestep\lsmail.thm
	LSMailX 0
	LSMailY 0
	LSMailTimer 1

	Themeing:
Do all the graphics themeing by editing the lsmail.thm file.
However, when it comes to adding pop3 servers, use the GUI
	Config in the right-click menu.

- Rainlendar 0.1 ~ Rainy (12:50pm 28.03)

"Rainlendar is a very customizable calendar that resides on
your desktop and shows the days of the current month. The
application is a Litestep plugin, but it can be used without
the Litestep as well. You can use it even with the normal
	Explorer-shell if you like.

"The calendar can be customized to fit your taste (and theme).
You can use different fonts and colors, select the background
image or just use copy of the current wallpaper. All
customization can be made with a GUI, so no hassle with
	cryptic configuration-files or registry entries.

"The program is still a very early beta and is not meant for
everybody. There isn't any nice install-script which doesn't
bother you with complicated questions. You have to know a
little about your system to get it work. But I guess if you
are a Litestep-user you should know enough :-)

- MyStep.org Opens ~ godzillamk (28.03 4:12pm)

"On Monday March 27, 2000 www.mystep.org was officially founded.
The website was registered with the LiteStep community in mind.
MyStep.org will be the latest addition to a growing number of
LiteStep website, but unlike others it is built with you, the
LiteStep user and the community as a whole, in mind. MyStep.org
will be a major resource site for LiteStep users, brought to
you by the people of the former LiteStep.org, the new
LiteStep.com and Mike's Digital Garage, Inc. We have a large
database of help files and tutorials, documents, modules,
utilities, source codes, builds, etc. We used to work on
LiteStep.org before it was sold by Bob Wells. Now I have set
off with other LS users to create MyStep.org. Your one stop
for you LiteStep needs. LiteStep.net will always be the major
theme site. But there is a growing need for a community site.
You'll be able to post themes, search for help on any subject,
with a much broader band then LiteStep.org, because we have been
doing LS help sites for much longer. We are building
partnerships with such sites as LiteStep.net Skinz.org,
	Deskmod.com, ChunkyMonkey.com, LSPortal, and a few others.
You will be able to upload your own themes, leave messages in
one of the dozen community message boards, ask for help from
members of our staff, search for help, on topics such as a
specific module, how to edit the step, or even create a skin for
a specific program. You'll be able to submit your homepage links.
Let me just sum it all up for you. When the site is up and
running, it will be the home of the LiteStep Community.

"We have just began the ground breaking work on this site, and
want to get it up as quickly as possible. That's why we want
the communities help. Anyone can help! If you want to help out
with the site you can contact Godzillamk our webmaster at
godzillamk@litestep.comor on ICQ his # is 47644501. We are
looking for people with knowledge in shtml, php3 or php4, css
and dhtml. If you have knowledge in LiteStep and would like to
share what you know, or your thoughts, feel free to contact us.
We are also continuing our search for LiteStep resources, so if
you have some to offer send them to either,
	warewolf@litestep.com or godzillamk@litestep.com."

          PROGRAMS
 ---------------------------

- Timed Trigger ~ Thermo (10:44am 31.03)

"This program was developed to alleviate the frustration I was
experiencing every time my computer booted up. I have DSL
which needs a PPPoE client to make the connection. This means
that at start-up I was watching the race between ICQ and
Access Manager. If ICQ beat AM starting, it would error out
since the net connection wasn't formed yet. Using the net
detect agent wouldn't work for some reason. This meant extra
	clicks that drive me nuts.

"All that was needed was a program that could start another
program after a specified interval and then exit. I expanded
this idea a little and this program was born.

"Timed Trigger is meant to be placed in your startup folder.
You can set up to five programs to be run at specified
intervals from the start of the trigger. All settings are
saved, and you can set to run normal or minimized. If you
wish to change settings, click on the tray icon."

 Tips
 ----

- One of the most common missing dll errors can be fixed by getting
msvcp60.dll. Some of the module coders use this file for there
modules. So the next time it says something to the effect of
"Cannot run something missing a file.", that's probably the dll
  it's missing.

 Latest Builds
 -------------

- Official - b24.5 build 032800
     Fixed? [litestep, dllmgr / Headius / 3-27-2000]
o Added exception handling to main executable to punt
exceptions during execution. Modules may act screwy
because we're swallowing exceptions they are causing,
		  but litestep shouldn't crash.
o Improved exception handling in DLLModuleManager to
unload modules that except during initialization and
to ignore exceptions while quitting modules.
