  LSWEEKLY LiteStep Related News 04.03.00 - 10.03.00
 ----------------------------------------------------

Another flame war on the mailing list, but this time, instead
of driving off the people who were the brunt of it, they packed up
and started there own mailing list. These people decided to do what
they wanted to do and are now getting together what could be a very
nice site. See, I just don't understand why people flame for new
ideas. What is the point in that?? To scare them off so LS stays
the same forever? I thought that the point of LS being open source
was not only to keep it free, but for an influx of ideas to keep
changing the face of the program.

There was also a lot of back biting between a few people
who I won't name. This was basically a personal war fought
out on the list. This is just a tad bit better than front web page
wars, but it seems to be scaring away newbies. This is not a good
thing, driving away new users to wage a personal war. Alot of it was
retaliating back to a previously said statement but... I think we
should start to keep this kind of thing off the list and sites. We
need these new users for many reasons ranging from new ideas to new
themes, and maybe even a new coder. I have ranted about this before
but I think it bears repeating. So please, next time someone starts
to flame you, e-mail them privately or msg them on IRC to resolve it.

- Dev Team in search of a new LS Icon (4:08pm 07.03)

This should have been in last weeks but with me moving and
what not I seemed to have tripped up so I'm going to add
	both bits here.

	From message:

"If you are a gfx freak, here is your calling, Litestep needs
a new icon. Could it be yours? Send your Litestep icons to
us. (Not shortcut icons, we are looking for an icon to
replace the one associated with the Litestep executable)"

	From Maduin:

"Just wanted to add some more details to Message's post: The
icon must be in Windows .ico format. It should have both
16x16- and 32x32-pixel images (preferably also 48x48, but
that is no requirement [NXT]). To submit it, send it as an
attachment to lsdev@litestep.net and be sure to include your

	The changes are:

- CrystaLite ~ starfire (1:58pm 09.03)

	"[Latest Update]:
Now requires build 06-03-2000 due to changes in step.rc.
Removed the startup screens since they bloated the zip.
	[INITIAL RELEASE:]
This minimalistic theme is designed to preserve resources, as
well as being simple, useful and also a good theme for newbies
as well as for experienced users. It's now been tested on all
resolutions from 640x480 to 1024x768 so it's suitable for
laptop users as well. Everything is handled through popups or
hotkeys, and most of the bloatware modules have been banished
from this theme. It is essentially backdrop independent, I
just figured many of you'd like this backdrop... ;-) Comments

- vbwharf ~ ?? (April 19, 1998)

Well, seeing as no one has sent anything to me for this
section, I'll throw out this program I found with no readme
or about box. I'm not sure who made it, what version it is,
anything. I'm getting the date off the zip. It seems to be
a vertical wharf written in VB and is somehow configurable
via a .rc file which is also not included. Check it out if
	your intrested.
