 ----------------------------------------------------

Interesting thread on the mailing list this week. Apparently
everyone is upset with the current rating systems of themes. Talk of a
committee, a new site, a bunch of stuff has been brought up. Interesting to
note here that I haven't seen a bunch of flames being thrown around, which is
nicely unusual for this community. It seems as if we, at least now, are
getting along enough to actually talk these ideas out instead of having a
flame fest. Look at LiteStep.org, now dormant once again because of the
latest rash of problems. Let me just say that I hope that this trend
continues and the LiteStep community can once again be a community and not
a family feud.

- LiteStep.org up for bid (10:20am 28.02)

Bob Wells sent me a e-mail about putting litestep.org up for bid.
At this time, LiteStep.org now reflects this:

"Here's a little news tid-bit for all who may be interested :)

"For various personal reasons (financial not being the least <g>),
I have decided to place the LiteStep.org domain on the proverbial
auction block. This announcement has also been posted as the sole
content at http://www.litestep.org , along with instructions to
forward all bids to bob@litestep.org and stating that bidding will
end at 8:00AM PST on March 15, 2000.

Sorry guys, I just don't have the time, energy or inclination to
deal with any of this anymore :) Feel free to reply with any
	questions you may have..."

- Themes.LiteStep.net ~ TimewarpX (1:33pm 28.02)

"After a few days of some studying, I have finally gotten the
time(oh and its also now actually at themes.litestep.net too :) )
to finish a few things, and get it up to speed. There is still alot
of work to do, but here is the basic explanation of it:

"I have made this site to offer tutorials on how to actually
theme... from the very basics of laying a shortcut down... all the
way up to some of the complex objects I have created in my themes.
I intend for this site to become more community oriented, as I
hope(and expect) people to not only suggest tutorials to be done,
but also to submit them for postage.

"Currently only the basics section is completed, but there are a
few other tutorials up, and more should be there before the night
is up. I hope for this new section of LS.net to become very popular
and useful. Please contact me via either email or IRC with
	suggestions/help offerings... no flames please."

Saw this at mindjunction: "I decided to spend a few minutes and
make a little homepage for geekAMP. There really isn't much on it,
but it'll remain the home of geekAMP from now on. I'll have a
little update for geekAMP out tonight, probably...

- lsDrinks 2.1.1 ~ nfo (9:25am 29.02)

"nfo has released a new version of his perl-based newsgrabbing
module for Litestep: lsDrinks 2.0. He's added some sites (and
removed some), added a couple more formatting options for the html
file it builds, a news headline limit (as an option), and a "lots
of bug fixes". Apparently (according to tin_omen), you need to
download perl from perl.com in order to run this program. Enjoy!"

- Interactive ScreenShot ~ Hammaraxx (10:15am 28.02)

Got this intresting thingy from the LS Mailing List:

"Have you ever had the feeling that a screen shot can't really do
your minimal theme justice? Well I got to some serious playing
around over the weekend and created what I think may be the first..

	-----=====    INTERACTIVE SCREENSHOT =====-------

	"</excitement>
well its a good go at it anyway (IMO).........
Unfortunately Netscape renders it like total crap :(
A point to M$ and the IE team ֿ ................

"So please open up Internet Explorer 5 (I can only hope 4 works too)
	and point to
	http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~metal666/shells/scrndemo.html
	and use a little patience
(It all adds up to a pretty big page but not much bigger than some
screenshots I've seen) Once it has all loaded up you should be
able to have a play around with my current desktop....

"It is still missing a few features some roll overs and a few little
ones I forgot until just now as I write this....
I would love to know how you go with it, what browsers
	worked/didn't, any bugs or suggestions.

	"Thanx In advance Thor Hammaraxx"

- Saw this on from Fidel on the Mailing List:

"Well Since those functions (Shutting Down, etc..) have been screwed in ls
for a long time I just use Litespawn for those functions... read the
 help file... It's real easy...
Litespawn.exe -shutdown or -logoff or one of my favorites for swapping
in a new build... -kill Course that one have an explorer window
open... else you'll have to reboot...."
