- Howto-skin documentation online (10:12pm 12.09)

"By request I've made a Howto-skin that explains howto skin
all of our software, although it currently only contains info
on how to skin Quick Notes, it will be filled with info on
howto skin all of our software."

- Fahim's New Shell (5:20pm 13.09)

Although this isn't LiteStep releated I thought I'd post it
here anyway because Fahim was such a driving force in LS
developement for such a long time.

"...The heart of the shell is the same as LiteStep - it
consists of a traffic handler for interprocess messages. I
should be grateful to Bryan for this code as I am basically
using the same code that he used for LiteStep with his
permission. I've simply cleaned it up a bit and adapted it
to my own purposes. But I've also integrated quite a few of
the functions that the desktop.dll used to handle into the
shell because I believe that these functions should be
handled by the shell. These includes stuff such as keeping
track of the active Windows list, passing on shell messages
to processes that have registered to receive these messages
and a few other things that I am still in the process of
	adding.

"I also wrote a new config file reading and writing (actually
the writing part is still to be written <vbg>) method which
while retaining the old Step.Rc format, also changes it
slightly. It is a combination of Step.Rc and INI file formats
that allows me to have a lot more flexibility but retains
compatibility with LiteStep. Now why is that you may ask?
Well that's because the point of the new shell is to provide
LiteStep users a new alternative - a completely new shell
that is compatible with existing themes and modules for
LiteStep with a few minor changes.

"Only thing is - while the basic code is in place and it does
actually compile <g> I don't know how well it performs or
whether it performs at all. So I guess you'll have to be
content with this description while I go back to coding,
testing and debugging in order to bring you the shell named
	..... ? :-)"

- FPN LiteStep Message Boards Up (8:14pm 16.09)

"There is now a new Litestep message board up at FPN! I only
have 3 boards right now, but if anybody has any ideas for what
boards would be good, let me know, its only a few clicks to
enable more. The other one problem is that I have to approve
any accounts, so it will take a tiny bit before your account
will be activated, but you can post anonymously anyway."

          MODULES
 ---------------------------

- AmpTime r2 ~ Peter Zag (7:44pm 11.09)

"AmpTime is a small LiteStep-loadmodule that will display the
elapsed or remaining time for winamp's currently playing track.
If you left-click it it will toggle state (elapsed/remaining
time). It does not support a background bitmap, that will
have to wait till the next release. But you can set the
 	BG-color,font,text-color, text-size,size and position."

 	%%UPDATE%% (7:10pm 15.09)

"I have updated the AmpTime-loadmodule. Now it supports
backgound bitmap and a few bang-commands ( -show, -hide and
 	-toggle )."

- Popup r9.2 ~ (e) (4:46pm 13.09)

	* Added PopupAlignAllText to align popup text with icons
	* Added PopupOpenFolderOnClick to open folder ONLY on mouse
	  click
	* PopupMenuDelay now works for opening and closing folders
	* Folder watching is finally fixed
	* DLL linkage is finally fixed

	Notes:

Pressing enter on a folder with PopupOpenFolderOnClick will
open the folder, but not set focus to the first item (known
	bug).

PopupAlignAllText will align ALL text including titles (this
	is for future icon support).

	Stuff to come:
Icons, definable arrows, better chaching code.

- AmpTitle r1 ~ Peter Zag (7:12pm 15.09)

"It shows the title of the currently playing winamp track.
It is almost the same as LSXCommand with scollWinampTitle,
except it removes the " - Winamp" stuff from the end of the
title, and it has user-definable scollrate. It's not much of
a diffrence, but I wanted those features."

- Recycler 2.7 ~ Joachim Calvert (8:18pm 16.09)

"This Wharf module for LiteStep emulates the recycler of the
original NeXTSTEP. It automatically detects if a file is
dumped in the recycler and also supports drag'n'drop. The
image will tell you if the recycler is empty or not, and if
you doubleclick it, the recycler will open to allow you to
	manipulate it's content."

NEW: The module now adapts better to different dimensions,
also better support for transparent backgrounds.
PLANS: LoadModule support, possibly even the ability to run
	       standalone.

- eX-Step 1.1b ~ Bruener (2:00am 15.09)

"With many suggestions from Dice (thanx bro!). I'm trying to
make this for YOU, the end-user who downloads it. The first
release was MY current shell and many of the shortcuts (ok
almost ALL the shortcuts) lead to dead-ends for you guys/gals..
that shouldnt be the case with this updated version. Special
Thanx To morpheusX! Many of the ideas for this theme
originated from his past themes. And of course thanx to the
dev team! keep it up boys! This shell is the most awesome
	one out there!"

	New to v1.1b:
	1. Implemented Popup R9.2
	2. Changed the background... Yippie!

my old website goes on as well. At this time, only the
Translation Archive is available. (CAUTION: my website
includes some silly or unnatural English expressions because
I am Japanese.) You will be able to browse translations of
some readme such as SysVWM, LSXCommand, DeskFolders, and
Dwarf. By next week, I will add translations of Systray and

- LiteSpeed is back (11:04pm 13.09)

SpiritWnd shot me an e-mail today to lemme know that LiteSpeed
is back and being hosted at ChunkyMunky. He would also like
coders to send him there code so that he can compile a
complete set of modules with there source code.

"(Xoom) thought we were warez, they deleted the site. They
destroyed weeks worth of work (they taught me to make backups).
THEN CAME CHUNKYMUNKY TO THE RESCUE. After rebuilding the
site and cleaning it up, a new face from the artistic hands
of l0c, LITESPEED is back. All Mods/Bangs/Utilities/Source/
Archives of old versions (Including various versions of
LiteStep itself). So, redirect your bookmarks to the new url:
	http://www.chunkymunky.com/litespeed

"Okay all you mod creators. I spent the wknd combing the for
the source code to this open source project we love to call
LiteStep. Find the LiteStep source was easy. Find the source
for the mods wasn't. AS A MATTER OF FACT, most of the sources
I found were to older versions of current mods.

"THE CHALLENGE - SEND IN YOUR SOURCE.

"I can't speak for the webmaster of LS SOURCE, but you can
e-mail your source to SpiritWnd@hotmail.com or DCC it to me
	when I am on #ls_help."

 - McFly ~ ? (April 12, 1997?)

McFly is a small mail check program that can check one pop3
account and play a wave is there is any mail. The nice thing
about it is not only is it only 32k, it lives in your systray.
The reason that i have question marks is that there is no
documentation and no about/help for the program. The date
is the day it was added to the zip archive.
