  XSWEEKLY Shell Related News 30.12.00 - 05.01.01
 -------------------------------------------------

Well, it looks as if c0mrade has had enough. He has taken
himself out of the top position at litestep.net and handed the
reigns over to his brother. He states on his web site that it is
because of RL and other reasons.

Right now, I don't know how to feel about this. As just
about everyone knows, I was a very vocal opponent against the joining
of the sites. I was also very vocal against a lot of what c0mrade was
doing. In the last moments before he left, he and I had a bit of a
blow out in #litestep. I am just hoping that this was not the
driving point of his leaving. c0mrade, no matter what his faults,
helped to move LiteStep to a new level. That feat alone deserves
respect.

Now that he is gone, what is to happen to litestep.net? I
don't think that it will be the focal point of the LiteStep community
as it has in the past. Alot of people visited the site because of
c0mrade. He seemed to bring a certain something to the site that
it will now be lacking. I am not saying that the site will just
up and die, but it will not be the same.

Thanks for everything c0mrade. No matter what has transversed
between us, at least we kept it interesting. Here is to hoping that
RL treats you better than LS did.

Yup, I have done this one already, but I'm going to do it again.
This site just keeps getting better and better. Now _why has
some really interesting updating tools, a new distro out, some
odd comics and a nice History of Disto's piece up. Stop on over
  and enjoy.

- Cloud:9ine

"Briefly, Cloud:9ine is a very powerful and highly versatile shell
replacement system. It works on any version from Windows95 or
NT4.0, through to Windows Millennium and 2000.

"The shell uses three main interface sections; a desktop that
allows you access to the system's menus; a launch menu that
replaces the Windows Start Menu; and host bars that allow you to
add plugins that can do any variety of tasks."

- c0mrade Leaves LiteStep (5.01 16:54 ls)

It seems that c0mrade, the webmaster of litestep.net, has
decided that it is time to move on. From his site:

"Well everybody, the time has come for me to depart due to a
thing called "Real Life" (and some other undisclosed reasons).
This is my last post on this site, so here I come.

"First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who came, comes, and
will come to this site. I'd like to thank everyone for their
support and participation in LiteStep project. I've been
here for a long time, and saw a lot of people come and go,
but LiteStep is like mafia, once you are in, you can never be
out. So once again, my humble appreciation to those who has
been here, who's gone, and who will come to what we call
	Community.

"Second of all, I'd like to thank and bow before the DevTeam.
DevTeam includes everyone who has ever been in it, from
Lonerunnr to current group of guys. It's you people who made
LiteStep what it is now, and we all owe it to you one way or
another. Your efforts appreciated or not have kept this
shell the best of all times at all times :). And of course,
special thanks to Lonerunnr for starting such a wonderful
	project.

"And last but not least, I'd like to apologize to everyone
who I might have offended, or have done something that wasn't
proper or necessary to do. I won't mention names, but those
people know who they are. Some points I still stand by, but
some of them I wish I could take back, but life's life,
luckily we don't yet have time machine, cuz if we did, who
knows what chaos might have been caused :).

"And finally, the new webmaster from this day forth is going
to be my younger (by 25 minutes) twin brother CCCP. He's
going to take over the project from here, he's your new
person to give ideas to, to flame, to give your inputs and
opinions to, and the thing is, I don't know for sure, but
knowing him for 24 years, I'd say you are up for major
changes in everything around here, and I'm sure they are
going to be great ones. One thing I guarantee is that he'll
take good care of everyone, that's for sure. I'm no longer
involved in ANYTHING related to this project, for as much as
I'd like to, it's impossible. I asked my brother to change
all the passwords to all the sites, so I don't even have
access to that anymore. CCCP is much better than I in PHP,
and he's just as knowledgable about LiteStep as I am, since
he's been using it since the day I found out about it. He's
got all the files to the new rewrite, and is going to
complete the work. He decided not to release current site's
source due to too much unnecessary work to clean up code
and make it readable. Instead you will see the source for the
new site as soon as it comes out, since it looks more like
the source of something that actually might be shown to the
	public without being embarrassed.

"The bottom line is, I truly love LiteStep, I truly loved
to be involved and actually do something useful for the
common cause, and I surely (even with all the bumps on the
road) still love our Community (with capital "C"). Without
the Community LiteStep wouldn't be what it is now, that's for
	sure.

"So long everybody. It's been a privilege and pleasure to be
here, but it's time to move on."
